Easters is the premier debating tournament of the Australian debating circuit. Its name is affectionately coined in deference to its traditionally being held in the Easter University Break. Easters sees over 450 students, from over 15 universities, come together to compete for top prize, while developing their skills and making life-long skills and memories.

Little wonder then, that Melbourne University was so eager to host in 2016. The tournament is a wonderful and enriching experience, and the coming together of some of Australia's brightest young minds to debate foreign policy, economics, gender, social welfare, education, and many more hard-hitting topics is amazing to see.

In preparation for 2016, we've assembled some of Melbourne University's most accomplished debaters to heighten the tournament quality. Organisationally, the event is headed by Mikaela Brusasco, an ex-MUDS president, Worlds quarter-final and Australasian Women's grand-final adjudicator. 2016 will be Mikaela's fourth Easters, but her first where she doesn't spend break night chewing her nails.

However, the topics and debates are unquestionably the talking point of Easters. So we've gotten in Tyrone Connell and Zoe Brown to head our adjudication team. Tyrone is a Worlds semi-finalist, and his achievements read as if he's been on the circuit for years. Zoe is a best speaker at last year's Easters, and an Australasian Women's grand champion.
